MANDELA HALL ACCESSIBILITY

At Mandela Hall we understand that everyone is different, and we want to welcome all visitors to our venue regardless of any accessibility requirements that they may have. We continually strive to provide an inclusive environment for visitors and employees and address the needs of all visitors to the venue. Our location is in the heart of the University Quarter in the south of the city centre and is easily accessed by car, taxi and public transport.

Mandela Hall/Whitla Hall Facilities

We have collated some information on accessible parking and navigating the building that we hope will help make your journey and experience with us a positive one.

Mandela Hall is located within the One Elmwood Student Centre at Queen’s University. The One Elmwood Customer Service Desk in the main atrium is open Monday-Sunday from 9am. If you require a visit to the venue (for familiarisation) please contact our team directly via email at mandela.hall@qub.ac.uk

Entry into the building is at street level (from University Road) and via an access ramp or short stair (from Elmwood Avenue). Mandela Hall is a flat-floored space (including toilet areas and lobby), and all doors between spaces are powered.

For events in Whitla Hall, there is wheelchair access via the front entrance, into the foyer and ground floor area, including wheelchair-accessible toilets. There is no wheelchair access to the balcony area.

If assistance is required at any of our events, staff will be available.

Access to disabled parking

Mandela Hall is situated in the south-city-centre with on-street parking. There are several marked disabled spaces on Elmwood Avenue, near the venue entrance. For events in the Whitla Hall, a number of marked disabled spaces are available within the grounds of Queen's University.

Wheelchair spaces

We can accommodate wheelchair users at any event, even if it has been sold as “standing only”.

Regretfully, we cannot offer seating inside the venue for those who find it difficult to stand, when an event has been sold as “standing only”. We provide a seating area in the venue lobby which is available to those needing to rest.

Storage of walker or other equipment

We can accommodate the storage of equipment at our venue and should you require this service during a performance please let a member of our staff know on arrival.

Guide dogs, hearing dogs and assistance dogs

We welcome guide dogs, hearing dogs and other assistance dogs at Mandela Hall. We are unable to accommodate any other animals in the venue.
